Larry hired me at USF in 2004, and I was fortunate to work with him for several years after that. He was a professor and department chair for all the right reasons, to have an impact for older adults and mental health, teach students, and mentor junior colleagues. I learned several pearls of wisdom from him that I continue to quote to others on a regular basis. He had a lasting impact on many people.
Larry was a great leader and Friend. He will be missed by all of us.

I was blessed to have known Larry. He was Chair of AMHD when I was hired in 2002, and what a gentle giant he was. He started out much like a school teacher when I was growing up, the ones who must just live at school and not have a personal life....but then I got to know him. He was such a wonderful man, leader, and friend. We had many lively discussions and shared many jokes given we were both on the "right" side of politics. I wish there could have been one more lunch or Zoom call before you went away. You will be missed. Rest in peace, Larry; rest in peace.

I will never forget the 1st yrs. of my arrival in Tampa; the excitement, vitality & impact of FMHI's programs. Larry's work & the behavioral interventions developed under his leadership were cutting edge & gave those of us in the field meaningful tools to use in our work w/ older adults.
I was always impressed w/ the way Larry encouraged the FMHI team to take their research to all levels of the community. For me Larry was a great listener, compassionate & a tireless advocate. I am so fortunate to have known him. What a wonderful legacy.
