Kenneth Eugene Burke's Obituary
BURKE, Kenneth Eugene, 67, passed away May 23,2012 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was born in Sumter, SC on July 5, 1944 and moved to Tampa in 1964. Ken was predeceased by his parents Carlisle and Essie Burke, his brother Carl, nephew Tommy Burke, in-laws Honorina and Francisco Tamargo and brother-in-law William (Willie) Garcia. Ken is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra Tamargo Burke, daughters Kendra Gail Burke and Noreen Marie Burke, sister Marian Brown (Cliff), sisters-in-law Elvira Tamargo Garcia and Junis Tamargo Nunez (Robert) and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Ken served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He was an electrical contractor and owner of The Electric Shop. In later years, he owned Leo's Bar. He was instrumental in establishing the Spina Bifida Association of Tampa. Ken's passion for cooking his award winning chili resulted in his forming the Dead Serious Chili Team. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 28, 2012 from 6 to 9 PM at Boza and Roel Funeral Home with a Eulogy Service at 8 PM, 4730 N. Armenia Ave. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM also at the funeral home with interment with military honors to follow at Centro Asturiano Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome.
