Joyce Maria Gibbs' Obituary
Joyce Maria (Sarian) Gibbs, age 73 of Tampa, Florida, died at AdventHealth Hospital on February 15, 2024.
She was born on November 16, 1950, in Tampa, Florida, to Fred & Connie (Lazzara) Sarian. She graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1968. She attended St. Petersburg Jr. College. She was a bank clerk for Bank of America. She was a member of Incarnation Catholic church. Joyce would have been married to Tom for 51 years on February 17. They were married on February 17, 1973, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Tampa, Florida.
Joyce was a lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Thomas W. Gibbs and her twin sister Janice Schrupp and husband (Loren) of Choctaw, OK. Joyce had no children of her own, but she was an aunt to David Schrupp (Lisa) of Midwest City, OK, Jonathan Schrupp of Edmond, OK, Jennifer Reeves (Michael) of Oklahoma City, OK, Joey Schrupp (Hannah) New Braunfels, TX, and Spencer Schrupp (Ashley) of Yukon, OK and cousins. Joyce had many great nieces and nephews. She was loved by all of them. She is also survived by her brother-in-law David Gibbs (Judy) of Caldwell, New Jersey, sister-in-law Susie Gibbs of Washington, and Jennifer and Jimmy Soltmann of Bloomfield, New Jersey.
Joyce learned to sew and made lots of clothing for herself and Janice. She didn’t learn to drive until 19, and her sister drove her to her first job at USF bookstore. She later accept a job at the credit union for Continental Can Company. Joyce then worked for a temporary agency until she was offered a job as a clerk at Nations Bank. The bank was bought out a few times and she ended her career at Bank of America in 2001. Joyce was a caregiver for her mother and father before their deaths. She was very compassionate and caring. She enjoyed cooking and her best dessert was her flan. Besides being extremely close to her niece and nephews she was also close to her great nieces and nephews; Samantha, Jonathan, Alex, Oakley, Colby, Brooklyn, Teddy, Dovey, Milo, Sloan, and Sutton Schrupp.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to one of the following: American Diabetes Association or National Kidney Foundation. A viewing will be held at Boza and Roel Funeral Home in Tampa. Florida, on March 21, 2024 from 10am - 12 pm
