Josephine Capitano Coto's Obituary
CAPITANO COTO, Josephine "Giuseppina", 98, native of Tampa, passed away peacefully Friday, March 24, 2017. She was just six days shy of her 99th birthday. Josephine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Ramon Coto; her sisters, Fifi Capitano Martinez, Mary Capitano Priede and one brother, Joseph Capitano. Josephine was a first born generation American of Sicilian parents Francesco Capitano and Manuela (Nela) Scanio Capitano, immigrants of Sicily from Santo Stefano & Alessandria della Rocca. She grew up in Ybor City and was a 1937 graduate of Hillsborough High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and sewing. Josephine was a very soft spoken, kindhearted woman that was loved by many; she was our angel. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother "Nana", great-grandmother "Old Nana/Nana Jo" and aunt "Aunt Pina". She is survived by her daughters; Geraldine "Gerry" C. Massari and Diana J. Hutto; four grandchildren; Kim Hutto Parrett (Herb), Amy Hutto, John Massari (Shannon) & Michael Massari (Caro); seven great grandchildren; Hannah & Nicholas Phillips, Anthony Parrett, Matthew & Nicholas Massari, William & David Massari; and many special nieces, nephews & friends. The family will receive friends for Visitation Tuesday, March 28, 2017, between 6 and 8 PM at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 North Armenia Avenue, Tampa. A Catholic Funeral Mass for the repose of her soul will be Wednesday, March 29th at 2 PM. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 South Dale Mabry, followed by Interment at Cento Asturiano Memorial Park.
