As you know, Joe was a wonderful person and will be missed by many. He was one of my favorite people at the Italian Club. He supported the Ladies in any way he could.
You and he were a wonderful example of a married couple. Everyone who knew you, loved you both.

I have many memories of "Uncle" Joe during the many family holidays over the years. One of my first and favorite memory is in the summer of early 1970's. I visited Anna Maria with my grandfather Philip and my cousins. I was playing my new Simon & Garfunkel tape "Bridge Over Trouble Water" for anyone who would listen! When the song "So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright" played, Uncle Joe said to replay it. We listened, then he went on, at length, about the architech. It was a great lesson about the man and I still can see him telling us about him. He was a teacher at heart and a great story-teller. We will miss him.

Joe was my godfather. I’ve always been so proud that I was the first of Joe and Dora’s nearly two dozen godchildren. Joe was one of the kindest men I have ever known. He was a friend to everyone who knew him. His love of family heritage was known by all. There could never be a better husband. His love for Dora was in constant view. Rest in piece Joe.
Joe was a distant cousin, but I would have been proud to call him my brother. He truly was an amazing teller of stories of many historical events, but the stories he told of Ybor City and the Sicilian immigrants that settled here was inspiring and educational to the generations that followed him as well as visitors from other states and countries. Joe is the one that first had the idea of having a statue created for my father, Nick Nuccio. He did a great deal of research before revealing his idea. Once he told others of his plan, the statue was in the works to be sculptured and then dedicated. Thank you Joe, if it wasn’t for you, the statue may never have been created.
Great Uncle Joe touched a lot of lives. He had a wealth of knowledge about our Latin history and culture both in a broad sense and locally. I swear he knew every one who lived in West Tampa, Ybor, and Seminole Heights during the the depression, WW2 and beyond. He always seemed to know who was related to who! A true a historian as well. I am so sad to hear of his loss. He was a devoted husband to my Great Aunt Dora and a great benefactor to the community. Love you Uncle Joe .
