Mr. Joe Sedita's Obituary
Sedita, Joe, 95, lifelong Tampa, FL resident went to be with the Lord Jan. 29, 2016. Joe succeeded his father in owning and operating the Oak Tree Market grocery store from his childhood until his retirement in the early 1970's. He served for 4 years in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a parishioner and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Joe was a member of the Ybor City Roundtable receiving the Sam D. Leto Award in 2006. Joe was active in both the Italian Club of Tampa and the Italian Club cemetery committee where he was a tireless fundraiser and benefactor for the restoration of the club and the perpetual care of the cemetery. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pietro and Maria Sedita and his daughter, Angie Jo Sedita. Survivors include his loving wife of 74 years, Connie P. Sedita, daughter, Marie Polo and husband Mario, grandson, Robbie Polo and wife Devon, great grandson, Austin Polo, niece, Angie Lazzara and husband Robert, nephews, Sam Perrone and wife Charlene and Tony Perrone and wife Lois. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM with recitation of the Catholic Wake Rite at 7 PM at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa, FL. A Funeral Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1711 11th Ave., Tampa, FL. Entombment will follow in the Italian Club Mausoleum. Active pallbearers include: Mario, Robbie and Austin Polo, Sam and Tony Perrone and Robert Lazzara. Honorary pallbearers include: Chad Lazzara, Bob Carpenter, Darrell Jones, Jimmy Castillo, Dr. Xavier Cannella, Dick Greco, John Centinaro, Joe Capitano, Sr., Eduardo Garriga and Joe Perez.
