Mr. James G.R. Cooper's Obituary
COOPER, James G.R., 84, of Melbourne, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008. He was preceded in death by his grandson Winthrop J. Spinney. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Irene Cooper; daughter Patricia A. Spinney and husband Winthrop; granddaughters, Jenifer M. Wheeler and husband William, Cathryn J. Bohling and husband Kevin; 3 great granddaughters, Lori C. Loftin, Rebecca M. Wheeler, Rachel E. Wheeler; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. Cooper was a WWII Veteran from the First Marine Division, who saw combat duty in the South Pacific with campaigns in Guadalcanal and Peleliu, from which he received the Purple Heart. He was also an expert marksman and won numerous championships in competitive shooting events. He was the past President and member of the Lions Club for 30 years and a former member of the Civil Air Patrol. Graveside services will be Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10 AM at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa. A memorial service will be held in Melbourne at a later date.
