Henry Lavado Jr.'s Obituary
Henry Lavado Jr., affectionately known as "Baewee" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home on May 2, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born on October 19, 1947, in Tampa, Florida, at Gonzalez Clinic.
Henry is survived by his devoted daughters, Tina Lavado and Lisa Lavado; his loving mother, Francis Fernandez; and his beloved sisters, Jeanette DeMarco, Linda Suarez, and Cynthia Lavado. He also leaves behind his grandson, Robert Odom, and many adored nieces and nephews. He shared his later years with his girlfriend, Sonia Talavera, whose companionship brought him joy and comfort. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Lavado Sr.
A brilliant mind and natural autodidact, Henry was drawn to knowledge with a curiosity that defined much of his life. Though largely self-taught in many disciplines, he also pursued formal education with distinction. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Lake City Community College in 1972, followed by a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida’s College of Social and Behavioral Services in 1974. Later, he furthered his commitment to the legal profession by attaining his Paralegal Certification from the Blackwell School of Law in 1992.
Professionally, Henry worked as an independent paralegal, a role in which his sharp intellect, attention to detail, and thoughtful nature earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his career, he was best known for his passion for the sea. An avid fisherman and skilled boat captain, Henry found joy and freedom on the open water. The sea was his sanctuary, and he spent countless hours embracing the freedom and challenge it offered.
Henry will be remembered for his brilliant mind, fierce loyalty, and strong spirit. Wherever he went, his vibrant spirit and passion for life lit up the room, especially when there was music. He never missed a beat, heading straight to the dance floor and staying there until the last song played. His presence left a lasting impression on those who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of family and friends.
