Mrs. Helen Duran Juarez's Obituary
Juarez, Helen Duran, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died
Wednesday afternoon at Lifepath Hospice in Sun City Center surrounded by her
family and loved ones. She was born in Tampa in 1920, the daughter of Spanish
Immigrants. She spent a lifetime caring for others and serving her community.
She belonged to Incarnation Catholic Church where she volunteered her services
for many years. Helen graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1935. After raising
her four children, Helen completed her college education, and earned her Masters
Degree in Education in 1981. She taught in the Hillsborough County Public School
System until her retirement at the age of 67. Helen was very active in the PTA, holding many different offices including president,
throughout her children's School years. She was a member of the Civitans Women's Auxillary, working on behalf of the Children's Home. She belonged to the Pan American Women's Club, championing the cause of Minority women. She was active in local
politics helping raise funds for her favorite candidates. Helen was appointed by Governor Bob Graham to the Education Practices Commission from 1980 - 1986 for which she
served as a member and then as Chairwoman. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Jose Duran, her former husband,
Dr. Oscar Juarez, her sisters Clema Rosales and America Collado, and her brothers
Manuel, Constantine, Richard and Joe Duran. She is survived by her four children Juanita L. Garcia (Jordan Kosberg), Oscar F. Juarez (Nancy), Richard A. Juarez (Susie), and
Patricia E. Blanco, MD (Dennis), her grandchildren Denise Sanchez (Max), Yvette Beaty
(Wes), Julia Elena Juarez, Fernando Juarez (Johnna), Tanya Juarez (Brent), Joshua Blanco and Daniel Blanco and her great -grandchildren Alex and Nicole Sanchez, Austin
and Rachel Beaty, Sophia and Jacob Juarez and Natalia Blanco.
The family has lost it's greatest advocate and is much diminished. We pray this wonderful, very much loved woman has found her rightful place in heaven. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 pm at the Boza & Roel funeral home located at 4730 N Armenia Avenue with a Catholic Wake service to be held at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 am at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Centro Espanol Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Oscar Juarez, Richard Juarez, Dennis Blanco, Jordan Kosberg, Fernando Juarez and Joshua Blanco. Honorary pallbearers are Max Sanchez, Wes Beaty, Brent Wilder and Daniel Blanco.
