Gloria L. Curbelo's Obituary
Gloria Lopez Curbelo, age 83, passed away on May 21, 2025. She was born in Tampa, Florida and attended Jefferson High School, class of 1959. Gloria married her high school sweetheart, Tony Lopez and they had two children, Valorie and Anthony. Tony passed away from cancer in 1996 and several years later, Gloria married a longtime friend, Daniel Curbelo. They were married for thirteen years until his death in 2015. Throughout her career, she worked at Hillsborough High School, Tampa General Hospital, Guggino Family Eye Clinic Medical Recruiters and Hyatt Regency Tampa; where it was known throughout the hotel that “She was no one’s boss but the boss of everyone!” She will be missed terribly by her children, Valorie and Doug Bauer, Anthony Lopez and Michelle Sotil, her grandchildren, Ashley Jachens, Brent Thomas, Shelby Lopez Johnson, Chelsey Bauer and AJ Lopez and her great-grandchildren, RJ and Kayley Jachens and Mila and Hallie Johnson. Per her request, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered in the sea. She did not want a service nor Celebration of Life, but rather said she enjoyed her family and friends while living. Gloria spent the last year in the care of Annie’s Assisted Living Lake Magdelene. Should you wish to make a donation in her honor, it would be much appreciated. Donations can be made via Venmo to @Annies_ALF.
