I met Girley two years ago when she volunteered alongside me at the Compassion International booth during conference. I would accidentally mispronounce her name and every time she’d very graciously correct me. The next year she volunteered with me again and we spent a lot of time together running the booth and talking. I so enjoyed our talks I’m the car riding over to conference. I chose this picture because it’s such a great depiction. We were praying over the packets before everyone came in for conference. Girley is in there, tucked around a couple of people, but she’s there. She wasn’t concerned with being noticed or taking glory for herself. She simply served passionately for the glory of her Jesus. Her presence alone could light up a room. Not just because of her spunky goofy personality, but because she was a light to the world. I know she is in the arms of the Father right now. I know she will hear “Well done, good and faithful servant.” While her absence is so bittersweet, I’m joyful for her to be in the presence of our Lord, completely made whole. I will be praying for her family and friends who mourn for her now. I can’t wait to sit down and catch up in heaven Girley, but until then I will follow your example. I will serve with everything I have and seek the lost. Love you girl. ❤️
