Gaston Fernandez's Obituary
FERNANDEZ, Gaston, 90, native of Tampa, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015. He was born on November 10, 1924 to parents Arturo and Julia Fernandez. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Gloria Fernandez; son, Gaston J. Fernandez (Charlene); sisters, Bertha Echeverria, Ofelia Rosete; brother, Enrique Fernandez (Emily); sisters-in-law, Diana Rodriguez, Ethel Fernandez and Carmen Fernandez; nieces Eileen Leavine, Gloria Garcia (Mike), Irene Alonso (Jerry), Marlena Scardino (John), Vilma Wood (Woody), Elaine Rogers (Roy), Tiia Shurig (Brian), Glenda Irrizarry (Xavier); nephews, Henry Fernandez (Linda), Phillip Rosette. He is pre-deceased by brothers Robert Fernandez and Arturo Fernandez. During WWII, he served as a NAVY aircraft mechanic in Tinian South Pacific. He graduated from the University of Tampa in 1951 and worked as an educator with the Hillsborough County School System for 30 years. He enjoyed a 49 year career as a commercial real estate broker. He was a member of the Tampa Board of Realtors since July 1, 1966. Gaston was devoted to his family and loved reading all matters regarding world current affairs. A special thank you to his wonderful caregivers, Alicia and Marta Perez, for their support and dedication. Per his request, there will be no services.
