Frank C. Llende's Obituary
Llende, Frank C., 89, of Temple Terrace, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 31st, 2016. He was born in Cardenas, Cuba and preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Maria “Nena” Llende, and brother and sister in law, Anibal and Marta Llende.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife of thirty years, Aurora Llende; sons Frank (Amy) and James (Sue) Llende; step sons David (Robyn) and Andrew (Robin) Diaz; step daughter Velen (Jeff) Thompson; 11 grandchildren: Hannah, Elena, Lindsay and Anabel Llende; Robert, Clara, John, Olivia and Audrey Diaz; Christina and Phillip Thompson.
Frank graduated from Adelphi University (NY) and dedicated his career serving Jesuit High School as head of the Language Department teaching thousands of students for nearly four decades (1961-1997). He also served as Director of the City of Tampa Aquatics Department. He was a mentor, role model, respected colleague and friend to many. A true gentleman, avid reader, world traveler and student of politics; he loved being with his family and enjoyed a good cigar.
Frank was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and a member of the Centro Asturiano.
The family wishes to thank Frank’s caregivers, especially Dr. Dany Sayad, Mary Ann Joy and Raymond Ashwood.
The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, September 9th, 2016 between 5 and 8 PM at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 North Armenia Avenue, Tampa and Saturday, September 10th from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at Jesuit High School (Gymnasium), 4703 North Himes Avenue, Tampa. A Catholic Wake Rite will be celebrated at 6:30 PM at the funeral home by Father Hermes of Jesuit High School. A Mass for the Repose of his Soul will be Saturday, September 10th, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Jesuit High School (Gymnasium) followed by Interment at Centro Asturiano Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Gerardo Perez, David Diaz, Andrew Diaz, Robert Diaz, Jeffrey Thompson and Mark Sierra. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the financial aid program of Jesuit High School – 4701 N. Himes Ave., Tampa, FL 33614.
