Frank Leto's Obituary
Leto, Frank A., age 84 known as Dad and Nano, passed away on Saturday Nov. 8, 2014. Frank was born and raised in Tampa, Florida on November 20, 1929. He was preceded in death by parents Americo Leto and Maria Traina Leto, sisters Anna Lange and Tessie Myers. He is survived by his devoted sons, Frank D. Leto and Dino M. Leto. He also was survived by his two grandchildren which he adored, Frank L. Leto (wife Brenda), and Lorelle E. Leto, and former wife, mother of his sons, Jo Ann.
He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1948. Afterward he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a field medic and was honorably discharged.
After his service to our country, he attended the University of Tampa earning a degree in education. He then acquired his Master’s degree in Administration at Ole Miss University in Oxford, Mississippi. He was an educator in the Hillsborough County School System, where he taught history at Sligh Junior High School, later becoming a Guidance Counselor at Hillsborough High School for many years. He finished his career at Van Buren Junior High School. He was a member of Tampa Masonic Lodge No. 240 F. & A.M.
He loved the game of baseball and was a pitcher at Hillsborough High School. Afterwards, he pitched for many years in the Inter Social Baseball League for several teams in Tampa. He also coached baseball at North Seminole Little League and Senior League, where he coached a state championship baseball team in 1974.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed living in Alabama for several years before coming back to Tampa to live. He looked forward to being with his friends on Tuesdays and Saturdays mornings at La Tropicana Cafe.
The family will receive friends for a Memorial Visitation Tuesday, November 18, 2014 between 10AM and 11AM at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 North Armenia Avenue, Tampa. A short service will follow at 11AM.
