Frank Campisi's Obituary
Campisi, Frank V., 83, passed away on June 13, 2014, after a three year valiant fight against multiple myeloma. Frank was a native of Tampa. He attended the University of Florida and received a Bachelor's degree from Florida Southern University. He was accepted in to Officer Candidate School in the United States Air Force. He became an aircraft commander and piloted refueling tankers as part of Strategic Air Command (SAC). He achieved the rank of Captain before ending his service in 1959. For the next 50 years, he served as president of J.V. Campisi Inc., at the Tampa Wholesale Produce Market. Frank was a Bull Gator with a passion for the Orange and Blue. He was a Foundation Member at the University of Florida and served on the UF President's Council. He co-founded the Tracy Caulkins Super Scholarship at the University. Frank was a board member of the Hillsborough County Expressway Authority at the request of his friend Governor Bob Martinez. He was a board member of the Italian American Invitational Golf Tournament for charity. In 2009, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners recognized Frank for his contributions to the community. Frank was preceded in death by his father, Vincenzo Campisi, his mother, Rosalie Arcuri and his brother, Victor Campisi. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Linda (Medero), his daughter Taren (Triggs, William), and his son Frank W. He was proud of his three grandchildren, Billy and Marlye Triggs and Phillip A. Campisi. He will be greatly missed by his family, his community and his Gator friends.
