Francisco "Frank" José Sanchez's Obituary
SANCHEZ, Francisco ("Frank") José, 87, passed away peacefully March 8, 2018, in Miami, FL, surrounded by family. He was born and raised in the culturally rich and diverse Tampa community of Ybor City, where he assisted his parents, Andrés and Amada, with the family business, A. Sánchez & Sons, making Spanish sausages. He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1949, where he served with national recognition as President of the DeMolay Junior Masonic organization; and later became a life-long member of the Universal #178 Masonic Lodge of Tampa. He graduated from the University of Florida, in
1953 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, and was then commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force to serve in Great Britain, where he became a First Lieutenant and Squadron Commander. He met his wife, Margaret, there and they married in England following her graduation from law school. After a brief return to Tampa, he accepted an invitation to join the sales force of Merck, Sharp & Dohme Pharmaceuticals in the Miami-Dade and Broward County, FL, areas, where he served the company and medical community with distinction for 42 years, regularly receiving national sales awards. His lengthy life and career were filled with the joys of the family he cherished and the friendship of so many people he held dear. His beautiful life and extraordinary grace, sense of humanity, humor, and generosity of spirit are celebrated by his beloved: wife Margaret; children Gerald and Valerie; daughter-in-law Tracy Nichols; grandsons Alex and Andrew; brother Bonifacio (“Bonny”) and sister-in-law, Norma, and their children Joan Carter, Larry, and Dr. Chris Sánchez, as well as cousins Leonor Díaz, Karlene Valero, and Delia and Francisco Sánchez. Funeral services on March 16, 2018. Visitation 10 am, at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave, Tampa, followed at 11 am by procession to interment at Centro Español Memorial Park Cemetery, 4601 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, FL, and 11:45 am Masonic Service at grave site. Celebration of Life 1:30-3:00 pm at Centro Asturiano, 1913 Nebraska Avenue, Tampa, FL. In Luie of Flowers donations maybe made in Franks name to a charity of your choice or to www.curealz.org
