Frances Cristina Nunez-Tomas' Obituary
Frances “Cristina” Tomas, passed away peacefully at home with her family present, on Monday November 24, 2014. She was born July 24, 1909 in Tampa, Florida. Abuela was an amazing woman. She took care of her entire family for 5 generations, and enjoyed every minute of it. She lived a complete and healthy life. She also worked at Corral & Wodiska for over 40 years. She enjoyed working in the shipping department at the cigar factory.
“We feel very blessed and thankful for the years we had her in our lives,” said her granddaughter Cynthia. “Nothing made her smile brighter than a visit from her great-grandchildren.”
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mercedes Alonso, and her brothers Raymond, Mario, Ceferino, and Antonio Nunez. “Cristina” is survived by daughter, Olga Menes and husband Mike Menes Sr., her son, Ernest Milian and wife, Nancy Milian, her sister Dalia Valdez, her niece Mercedes Gonzalez, and her godchild, Elaine Menendez. She had 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. We would like to send a special “Thank You” to Hospice, especially to the compassionate care of Yisselt Jure, Susan Gamble, and their staff for the care of our grandmother. Also “Thank You” to all who called daily to inquire how she was doing. Active pallbearers include: Steven Gonzalez, Timothy Hynes, Vincent Macias, Christopher Martinez, Matthew Menes, Mitchell Menes, Nicholaus Novo and Ryan Novo, honorary pallbearers include: Roberto Bravo, Thomas Clark, Mike Menes, Jr., Ernest Milian II, Mike Menes, Sr. and Ernest Milian.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
