Fernando Quintanilla's Obituary
QUINTANILLA, Fernando, 93, native of Tampa was born August 1922, passed away on October 22, 2015 due to complications from a stroke. He was a member of the greatest generation, serving his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. New York. After the war he learned the construction Trade with the G.I. Bill and after several years became a letter carrier for the U.S.P.S. and retired after more than 35 years of service. Fernando was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Josephine Quintanilla, Rose Suarez and brother-in-law Al Suarez and Joe Rodriguez. He is also survived by his loving wife Alicia and son Joseph; brother-in-law Eloy Rodriguez, who he considered the brother he never had and daughter Donna. He is also survived by loving niece and nephew Joanne and Oreste Mesa, their son Shawn and wife Debbie (daughter Ava). He is also survived by nephew Manuel and wife Danisa and great grand niece MaryAnne Suarez. By his wishes there will be no services held, to be followed by private graveside services. We want to give special thanks to Dr.’s Norman Castellano, John Ramirez and Jose Cura Jr. and to the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital. We will love you and miss you forever!
