NORIEGA, Fernando, Jr., 81, passed away Monday night, in his West Tampa home. Fernando was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Noriega, his sisters, Mary “Cuchi” Rodriguez and Marina Wyrick, and his parents, Fernan Read Obituary
Although I didnt know the family for a long time. It was long enough to see the love in the Noriega family. I am so happy to hear you're with the love of your life, sleep in peace Papo.

Two week ago I went to see Fernando as I usually try to stop when I pass his house in my walks. He told me he could not move but then as his usual self he smile and we talked about the changes that life brings. I always enjoyed hearing his stories of his Spanish father and the way Tampa was then and his youth. Rest in peace my friend and I know that Margarita is with you enjoying of the grace of God.
Such a gentle man and gentleman! Such an elegant couple, he and Margaret!
Fernando's "can do!" attitude is evident throughout Tampa. May we all honor his legacy by following his example and doing what is best for his/our beloved Tampa.

Fernando was truly a man for all seasons.May his spiirit always be remembered by those of
us who knew him and his accomplishments.
Fernando always made people smile.
During his career at the City of Tampa, Fernando Noriega took on some monumental challenges for his mayors and for the people of his beloved Tampa. He sat across the table from some tough characters. But Fernando never let anyone get him down. He stayed positive because he trusted in the goodness of his fellow man.
He was no fool. He knew what was going on, both upfront and behind the scenes. But when confronted with adversity, he'd smile, roll his eyes and then laugh out loud. Before long, everyone else was laughing, too. Fernando generally won the battle and the war!
Next time we walk through the doors at Carmine's on spaghetti-with-crab-sauce day, we'll look to the right side of the room, near the windows, and look for Fernando and the love of his life, Margaret. They both are gone. And we mourn this monumental loss.
We'll think of our times with Fernando Noriega and we will smile.

To my cousins Linda, and Michael, as you know I was one of the few that always referred to your father as Jr. He always introduced me to everyone we came across as his second daughter and treated me as if I was! He was my ROCK. I will always cherish the wonderful memories we shared together. I will truly miss him dearly and that we always remain close to one another as Dad raised us.
