Esperanza Prevatte's Obituary
Esperanza “Hope” Santiesteban Prevatte, age 84, passed away at Melech Hospice House in Tampa, Florida, during the morning on Thursday, January 23, 2025, following a stroke on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
She was born on May 17, 1940, in Outomuro, Spain. In addition to her parents, Armando Santiesteban and Rosa Rodriguez Santiesteban, and sister Elena “Helen” Olga, Esperanza “Zita” grew up surrounded by her extended family in Spain and Tampa. Not long after graduating from Jefferson High School in 1959, Hope joined the U.S. Navy and met her husband. Two weeks after their first date, Richard and Hope married on August 5, 1960. They traveled the world, while raising their daughters, Michele and Celeste, and granddaughter, Skylar. Hope worked a variety of jobs, including as a secretary at IBM and EDS. She also dedicated many hours volunteering for her children’s schools and granddaughter’s sports teams.
Throughout her life, Hope enjoyed dancing, movies, traveling, eating out and spending time with friends and family. She was known for helping others and telling friends and family to “drop by anytime”. She adored babies and children, especially her granddaughters, great-granddaughter, nephews and nieces.
Hope is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard Prevatte, daughter Michele (Michael) Rosa, granddaughters Skylar (William Hartwick) Heyward and Alexandra Rosa, sister Elena (Rick) Cary, and great-granddaughter Elora Rose Hartwick. She was predeceased by her daughter, Celeste Heyward.
In accordance with Hope’s wishes, no services will be held. She preferred to spend time with family and friends while was alive. In lieu of flower or donations, the family requests that you share your remembrances on Facebook and the Boza & Roel memorial page, as well as spend quality time with your loved ones.
