Eluterio (Robert) Matos Ramirez's Obituary
Eluterio “Robert” Matos Ramirez, age 69, passed away in Tampa surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Camuy, Puerto Rico on August 20, 1949 to Angelica Matos Ramirez and Rafael Ramirez and raised in Bethlehem Pennsylvania.
Robert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Milly (his “babe”) whom he married and began a family with in New York. His career as a letter carrier ultimately lead them and their 3 boys to Tampa, FL.
Robert was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and liked to share stories of his time serving and traveling the world. Like the true mailman he was, he talked to everyone and called you his friend from the moment he met you. Family referred to him as Robert or Chico but he introduced himself to new friends as Bubba with a big smile and an open heart.
He was adventurous and experienced many things during his life- traveling, scuba diving, riding motorcycles. His true passions were listening to oldies, cooking, restoring hot rods, attending car shows and fixing almost anything he could get his hands on. He spent his time either trying to feed you home cooked meals he spent years mastering (strawberry cheesecake, coquito, pernil) or showing you his car and the trophies he had won. Showing people his “Nasty ‘38” (as Robert would say) and cooking brought him great pride, you could not visit his house without him insisting you either eat something or visit his garage.
To share with you the full impact he has had on our lives is impossible. A piece of our hearts is gone but he has left us with many great stories.
His memories will forever be held in the hearts of his loving wife, Milly; sons- Michael (Shannon), Brian (Antuanett) and Christopher; 6 grandchildren- Marissa, Kayla, Stephany, Alyssa, Anthony and Michael; siblings- Julie, Mary, Ralphie and Carmen; nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his mother, Angelica, father, Rafael and his brother, Robert.
