Elda U. Sequeira's Obituary
Elda U. Sequeira, 82, was called to heaven on June 10, 2018. She passed while surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Elda came to the United States in 1960 and made Tampa her home. Elda lived her life to the fullest every single day. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to travel the world with her family creating memories that would last a lifetime. She was a cherished friend; her love and acceptance of people knew no boundaries. She did not define family purely by the blood relationship, she loved deeply and completely of all she knew and in return she received the same unconditional love. She had a sharp and mischievous personality with a contagious laugh. Elda was strong in her convictions and ensured her opinion was heard. The impact she made on the world will be felt for forever and carried forward by her family.
Elda’s hard work and fortitude were apparent in everything she did. She dedicated her time and attention to many charitable causes. The closest to heart were St. Jude’s Children’s Research, Shriners Hospital for Children and the Paralyzed Veterans of America. If she only had one penny left to her name you can be sure she would give it to one of these worthy causes.
Outside of her family and friends, one of Elda’s greatest prides was her active membership in the Krewe of Mambi. She was the heart of the Krewe, the mother to many and the life of the party. Due to her numerous contributions to the Krewe of Mambi she was bestowed a lifetime membership. In Elda’s honor the Krewe of Mambi will retire membership number 207 as no one will ever be able to fill her shoes.
Elda had a can-do attitude with an abundancy of energy. Even in the face of numerous illnesses she fought hard, never one to go down without a fight.
She is survived by her loving family, Gabriel “Puly” Sequeira, her three children; Gema (Marco) Alvare, Gaby (Nicole) Sequeira and Gladys (Cosme) Garcia. Her beloved grandchildren Sergio, Gaby III, Gyzel, Vanessa, Marco, Lauren, Alexa, Lauren Elizabeth, Tori, Victoria, Nicolas and Gino as well as 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Anthony Duany, Joan and their staff for their support. Additionally, the family is grateful and thankful for the compassion they received from Lifepath Hospice.
Her celebration of life will be on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 6:00-9:00PM at Boza and Roel, 4730 N. Armenia Ave, Tampa, FL 33603.
