Mr. Domenic (Don Valenti Giunta's Obituary
Giunta, Domenic (Don) Valenti, 93, lifelong resident of Ybor City, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 1, 2007. Born to Sicilian immigrant parents on February 25, 1914, Don was a man of many passions, which included: his love of family, vegetable gardening, and his chosen profession, teaching. As a young boy, Don learned how to grow vegetables, while working with his father on the same Ybor City Giunta farm that has been the family home since 1924.

He retired from the Hillsborough County School System in 1977, following 37 years of dedicated service as a science and math teacher. His caring and concern for his students made him both an exemplary and memorable teacher. He was a parishioner of OLPH Catholic Church, and was a member of the Holy Name Society.
