Denzel G. Rogers' Obituary
Denzel G. Rogers, Jr of Tampa, Fl, passed away peacefully, joining his Heavenly Father, December29, 2023 in comfort at his home with family. Denzel was born June 17, 1946 in Rochester, NY to Beatrice Schirmer and Denzel G. Rogers, Sr.
Denzel graduated from Riviera Beach High School in Riviera Beach, Fl and went on to obtain his Liberal Arts degree in Drama (which well suited him) at the University of Jacksonville and later in years went on to obtain his Masters Degree and US Army War College Degree.
Denzel retired as a Lt. Col in the US Army in January of 2000. While in the Army, Denzel was proud to have spent many years recruiting future proud soldiers and many ensuing positions in Personnel Systems and Management. His military service awarded him the opportunities to include 3 tours to the Far East. Denzel was very proud of his Boy Scout participation as a young man and carried that throughout his life, being awarded a Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for volunteering with the Boy Scout organizations in those countries, among many other service medals.
Following retirement and spending several years in Real Estate in Tampa, he went on a Military contract that took him to Afghanistan in 2009 for 4 years. Upon his return he spent the ensuing years doing much volunteer work with the Humane Society and USO. There are many strangers as well as friends and family who are able to know Denzel for the stories he loved to tell (Many times with much exaggeration). And the laughter these stories brought to those around him. He knew NO strangers. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and many that never knew his name...but felt enriched for his kindness, stories, and laughter. And mostly for his wonderful, warm Smile!
Denzel is survived by his spouse, Valerie Pyles; his Beloved son Casey C. Rogers and wife Danielle Rogers and very loved grandchildren, Madison, William, and Finn Rogers; along with Stepchildren Shannon and Daniel Srivinasan and loved grandchildren Parker and Piper Srinivasan…and, of course, his Beloved Dog – Daizy!
Denzel will be remembered by all for his Kindness, Generosity, and Wonderful SMIILE!
His service will be held February 12, 2024, at Bay Pines Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.
