Dee Q Agganis' Obituary
Dee Q. Agganis (née Barroso) passed from this Earth on March 11, 2021, after a prolonged illness.
A lifelong resident of Tampa, Dee was born on August 14, 1951 and was the eldest child of Emanuel and Emily Barroso.
Dee was, above all other things, a loving soul. Her kindness and caring for others served her well in her chosen profession as a registered nurse. Dee served the community with compassion and skill for almost 30 years.
Dee’s love of people was matched, and probably exceeded, by her love of animals. Creatures both great and small, from dogs and cats, to parrots, to turtles and squirrels and ferrets and ducks, found a ready and tender home under Dee’s roof.
Dee was a passionate and talented cook. She could take the most basic ingredients and turn them into a hearty and delicious feast. She was happiest loving her family through her cooking, deriving immense joy making meals for family gatherings.
Dee is preceded in death by her loving mother, Emily Barroso, for whom Dee served as a dutiful caregiver before her passing. Dee is survived by her father, Emanuel Barroso, Harry Agganis, her loyal and devoted husband of 29 years, her brother Gustavo Barroso (Grace), her sister (and principal co-conspirator) Marrisa Barroso Jagger (Kenneth), her one good egg, Jason J. Quintero (Tricia), her niece and nephew Kasey Lynn Jagger and Kenneth Lee Jagger, Jr., who she loved as her own, her aunt, Isabel “Cookie” Barroso (John), and cousins Louis Barroso (Ruth), Ileana Quijano (Herman), Darlene Jerez, Brenda McCarthy (Bob), Melinda Barroso, Marianne Prestwood (Ronnie) and Nicholas Castellano (Robin).
Dee was the fiercest, most devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend in the world. Her wellspring of love and sacrifice knew no bounds. All she cared about were the better for it. She leaves a hole in the world that will never be filled.
