Darlene Lynn Martinez's Obituary
Darlene Lynn Martinez, age 57, of Tampa, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with ALS on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
Born on December 18, 1967 in Tampa to Quiciano and Rosalie Perez, the youngest of five children. She graduated from Jefferson High School and went on to have a successful career as an analyst for the federal government.
Darlene lived a life full of love and adventure. She had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and deeply loved. Surrounded by an extraordinary circle of close friends, her presence brought light and warmth into every room she entered. She will be remembered most for her kindness, her vibrant spirit, and her role as a deeply supportive mother and grandmother. While no words can fully capture the depth and beauty of her life, Darlene’s spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Darlene is survived by her loving life partner Joey Valdez; her daughters Rebecca Simons and Kristina Martinez; her beloved grandson Benny Simons; and her cherished siblings, Lisa Caraballo, Lorenzo Perez and Frances Ruiz. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ray James Perez.
A funeral will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Boza & Roel. The viewing will be held from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm for close friends and family and the service will promptly begin at 4pm.
