I can barely remember a time when Mrs. Metzger wasn’t part of our lives, part of our family. She was always a friend we could count on for good advice and support, and of course for good times! She was Godmother to my daughter, but I felt like she was a fairy godmother to our whole family.
Oh, the good times! Outings to the horse track, delicious meals from BLTs and orange sodas to caviar and champagne! And laughter! She was down-to-earth and fun-loving, but also gracious and elegant, generous and loving, always a class act.
If I know Mrs. M., she’s heading up a great celebration in Heaven with her husband, my parents, and many friends and family members, and I’m happy that she is at peace and has no more discomfort. But down here, we will miss her dreadfully.
