Christopher Richard Martinez's Obituary
Maribel and Richard Martinez were blessed to welcome their son, Christopher Richard Martinez, into the world on June 27, 2004, in Tampa, Florida. Christopher was called home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2026, at just 21 years old, leaving behind a world made richer by his presence.
Christopher was a music education student at Florida State University, where his passion and talent for the arts was undeniable. He marched with the FSU Marching Chiefs, playing the sousaphone as a proud member of the Royal Flush. He later served as Music Director of the Epsilon Iota Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha and was elected Collegiate Province Representative for Province 36, a testament to the respect and trust his brothers placed in him. His musical gifts were many, including singing, conducting, and playing a range of instruments, but more than his talent, it was his passion that left an impression on everyone around him. Christopher didn't just play music; he lived it.
Yet Christopher was far more than a musician. He was the kind of person who laughed loudly and without apology, who would drop everything for a midnight Walmart run, and who could talk for hours with the people he loved. In recent years, he made it a personal mission to immerse himself evermore in his Dominican roots and Spanish language, and use this as yet another tool to enrich the musical world and his family. That kind of intentionality was simply who Christopher was. He went above and beyond for the people in his life, always, and touched every person he met with a warmth that is impossible to replace.
Christopher is survived by his parents, Maribel and Richard Martinez (Andrea); his siblings, Jovanna, Richard Jr. (Alina), Cesar (Aliana), Sabrina (Kalin), and Stephanie; and his grandmothers, Magnolia Pimentel and Margarita Martinez. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lelis Pimentel and Ricardo Martinez.
Christopher, you will be deeply missed and forever loved. Your laugh, your heart, and your music will echo on.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17th from 2:00-4:00 PM with a funeral service at 4:00 pm at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 North Armenia Ave., Tampa. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 18th at 1:00 PM at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 US-301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
