Catherine Lamela's Obituary
Catherine Lamela, 91, of Tampa, went to be with the Lord and her beloved sister, Grace Lamela, on Monday, June 25, 2012. Together they owned Lamela's Grocery Store in Palmetto Beach for over 45 years. Catherine was deeply loved and a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ybor City. She was a Eucharist Minister, a lector and the second person at O.L.P.H to be awarded the Diocese of St. Petersburg St. Jude the Apostole Award. Catherine was also a member of the O.L.P.H. Ladies' Guild, Arts and Craft Club, Parish Counsel and the church accounting team for over 35 years. Catherine died peacefully with loving care from her sisters in Christ and the wonderful team at Hospice House. Catherine loved Palmetto Beach and her O.L.P.H family. We will miss her and treasure our memories until we are together again. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name can be made to O.L.P.H. Church at 1711 11th Avenue, Tampa, FL 33605. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at O.L.P.H. with Father Thomas A. Stokes, S.M., Pastor, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
