Cassie Lee Rumore's Obituary
RUMORE, Cassie Lee (née Akins), 90, known affectionately by her family as “Nana,” passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2015. Cassie was born in Winnsboro, SC on Dec. 3, 1924, but moved to Tampa as a teenager, where she met her future husband Angelo Rumore, “Nano,” at a Sulphur Springs dance. Cassie is survived by many loving family members: children Diana Rumore, Dickie Rumore (Teresa), Mary Moccia (Wayne), and Randy Rumore (Ana); siblings Marshall Akins, Colleen Carter, Laura Mae LeGrand, and Mary Akins; grandchildren Micheal Rumore, Santino Rumore, Roman Rumore (Jessi), Mitch Moccia (Marquita), Jason Moccia (Michelle), Alisa DeMeo (Michael), Amy Miller (Billy), Annette Guzman, Gina Schafer, Melanie Alfonso, and Desiree Longo; and great-grandchildren Sophia and Bella Moccia, Luca and Stella DeMeo, Hunter and Cade Rumore, Lacey Drenth, Jesse McCarty, Briana Alfonso, Victoria and Steven Zerby, and Justin Durbin. She was preceded in death by parents James and Lillie Akins; husband Angelo “Nano” Rumore; and brother James Laddie Akins. “Nana” will be remembered for her independent spirit, uncommon kindness, and unbending love for her family. Viewing will take place on Thursday, June 18 from 6-9 p.m. and funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19 at 10 a.m., both at Boza & Roel Funeral Home (4730 N. Armenia Avenue, Tampa). Interment will follow at Centro Asturiano Memorial Park.
