Mrs. Carmela Busciglio Prida's Obituary
PRIDA, Carmela Busciglio, born May 26, 1907, passed away at her home in Tampa on October 26, 2008 at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her husband, Enrique Prida, son-in-law, Tony Velazquez; brother, Jimmy Busciglio; sisters and their spouses, Angelina (Eduardo) Garcia, Josephine (Sam) Rampello; brother-in-law, Tom Costanzo; nephew, Sam Rampello; and goddaughter, Nina Licata. She is survived by her daughter, Dolores Velazquez; grandson, Anthony Velazquez; granddaughter, Joanna (Steven) Henriquez; great grandchildren, Alyssa and Nicholas Henriquez, Deanna and Melanie Velazquez; sister, Mary Costanzo; sister-in-law, Mary Hertel; nieces and nephews, Luciano (Alice) Prida, Roseanne (Dr. Lou) Bowers, Dr. Eddie (Betty Alvarez) Garcia, Manuel (Gloria) Busciglio, Mary Frances Busciglio; and godson, Dr. Antonio Castro and their families.
Carmela worked for many years as a cigar maker, loved cooking, crocheting, and knitting for family and friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Albert Tawil and Dr. Xavier Prida for their many years of great care. Pallbearers will include Anthony Velazquez, Steven and Nicholas Henriquez, Dr. Eddie Garcia, Dr. Lou Bowers, Manuel Busciglio, and Dr. Antonio Castro. Honorary Pallbearers will include Luciano Prida, Dr. Edward Garcia, Anthony Garcia and Richard Henriquez. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8:00p.m. at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N Armenia Avenue. Graveside services will take place at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, at Centro Asturiano Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
