Bobby Joe Ward's Obituary
Bobby Ward, 83, died on February 14, 2023, at home surrounded by the love of his family following a short illness. His passing on Valentine’s Day was a reminder of his big heart. Bobby was a dedicated, loving, and protective husband and step-father and a solid role model to his grandsons, taking them to baseball practices, coaching and cheering them, and attending all of their games. Born in Georgia on December 22, 1939, Bobby graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1958 and was a longtime employee of Delta Airlines at Tampa International Airport. He was also a protector and rescuer of various cats and dogs. Bobby enjoyed sweets and shared his hoard hidden in the utility room; he never said no to a slice of apple pie. Bobby also enjoyed tennis, football, baseball, home projects, vintage automobiles, and a 7 and 7 cocktail on the holidays. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ophelia and Joe Ward. Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, whom he married on May 1, 1970; his stepdaughter, Mitzi Jean Robles; stepson, Oscar (Gary) Vitacco-Robles; 2 grandsons, Henry (Vanessa) Robles and David (Angie) Robles; brothers, Sam and John Ward; and sisters, Charmaine, Amelia, Pam, Cindy, and Rhonda. Bobby will be tremendously missed by the many who loved him and appreciated his goodness, humility, generosity, and selfless service to those he loved.
