Berta I Hernandez's Obituary
Berta Irenea Hernandez Vidaurrazaga passed away peacefully on February 25, 2021 with her children at her bedside. Berta was born in Havana, Cuba on June 28, 1937 to her parents Francisco Hernandez and Berta Vidaurrazaga who preceded her. Berta is survived by her sister, Miriam Hernandez Vidaurrazaga, her son, Juan C. Fernandez (Mercedes), her daughter Jacqueline Garcia (Hermes), and her grandchildren Natalie Fernandez, Juan Carlos Fernandez, Alejandro Garcia, and Ariadna Garcia.
Berta was a devoted mother and grandmother. She dedicated a grand part of her life to helping raise her grandchildren, nurturing and teaching them to be loving, selfless, respectful, giving, honorable, and kind like she was. Berta was a loving daughter and sister who always put the needs of others first. One of her greatest joys was to have her family gathered while making memories. She loved to cook with and for her family. She will be remembered by everyone who has had the opportunity to meet her. The memories of her will be forever carried in our hearts.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Saturday April 24th at TBD. Family and friends are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Berta’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
