Barbara Garcia's Obituary
Barbara Iglesias Garcia, 55, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. She struggled with multiple sclerosis for 30 years and her battle with its accompanying symptoms, including paralysis and depression, was long and hard.
Barbara was born in the Bronx to Cuban immigrants, moved to Tampa at age 14 and attended Tampa Catholic High School, where she made many life-long friends who have become like family. In 1982, she married the love of her life, Robert. Barbara’s disease left her disabled after the birth of her younger daughter and she stayed home raising her children. She also taught a few piano lessons to friends and neighbors, even after her disease stopped her from being able to use her hands. Barbara will be remembered most for her generosity, passion and drive.
She is survived by her mother, Digna Iglesias, husband, Robert Garcia, daughters Christine Goodwin and Jessica Keenum and three granddaughters – Alexis, Leila and Camila. She is also survived by her sons Justin Goodwin and Patrick Keenum. She is preceded in death by her father, Nestor Iglesias and her brother, Nestico Iglesias.
The Family will receive friends Wednesday March 14, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at the church. A Mass will be Offered for the Repose of her Soul, Wednesday March 14, 2018 at 11:00 o’clock, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to The Spring of Tampa Bay in Barbara's Honor. www.thespring.org
