Aurora Fernandez's Obituary
FERNANDEZ, Aurora, 86,was born to eternal life on 10/26/09. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Aurora Alvarez; brothers, John and Danny; beloved husband, Daniel; and Tia Josefa. Aurora is survived by her daughters, Margaret Holt and husband Tom, and Lisa Fernandez and husband, Mike Tucker; six grandchildren: Daniel, Andrew, Rachel, Preston, Hannah and Kyle; and five nieces with extended families. Aurora, a native of Tampa, was crowned Gasparilla's Latin American Queen XI and Queen of Noche de Mantilla. She served her country during World War II as a Red Cross nurse, during which time she became a blood donor, continuing to do so for many years. Aurora served for over thirty-five years at MacDill AFB, FL, as an administrator and executive level secretary. During her career she performed as the base commander's secretary and was the personal secretary to a number of senior general officers, representing all branches of the Armed Forces, including a future Commandant of the United States Marine Corps. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Tampa, on Friday, October 30th, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Garden of Memories.
