Anne McQuade's Obituary
McQuade, Anne, 85, of St. Petersburg, FL, loving mother and pioneer of women, died July 23, 2016 after a long journey with dementia. She fearlessly tackled a career totally new to women in the early 1960's. She graduated from the St. Petersburg Police Academy and joined their Police Department. She retired after twenty five years of service and by that time, had achieved the rank of Sergeant and the distinction of becoming the Department's first female sergeant as well as the second female officer in the State of Florida. Anne was predeceased by her husband, William Joseph "Bud" Ulmer, who passed after six years of marriage, leaving her the sole parent of two daughters, four and six years old. She later remarried and raised three additional girls. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother and is survived by daughters, Lori Grant, Teri Ulmer, Kathy Snider, Leslie Wright, Sherry Wren, grandchildren, Shannon and Alex Grant, nieces and a nephew. ANNE, loving mother and grandmother will be missed. The Family will celebrate her life in a private memorial service.
