Ann R. Martinez's Obituary
Ann R. Martinez, 94, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Danise S. Martinez, on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Born July 20, 1931, in High Springs, Florida to her parents, James C. and Wenona Raines. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Daniel F. “Danny” Martinez and her sister, Mary Lee Smith. Ann is survived by her 3 children, Danise S. Martinez (Michael), David J. Martinez (Delfa) and Daniel F. “Danny” Martinez, II (Joyce); her 6 grandchildren, Meghan M. Morton (Logan), David J. “DJ” Martinez, II (Alma), Daniel F. Martinez, III (Alicia), William A. Allison, II (Fabricio), Andrew A. “Drew” Martinez (Jessica) and Derek M Martinez (Erica); and her 7 great-grandchildren, Aurora, Gabriela, Dean, Daniel “Ford” IV, Emily, Adelynn, and Cal.
Ann lived a full life with much love for her family and friends, enjoying swimming, music/singing, gardening, reading and memberships in Las Dumas and the Davis Islands Garden Club. She and dad traveled extensively around the world and truly enjoyed all things Florida Gators.
Ann graduated from Miami High School, The University of Florida where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in education and later earned her Master’s Degree in education from the University of South Florida. She began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher at B.C. Graham Elementary and then taught at Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary until 1973 when she became the Head Librarian at Hillsborough High School, before retiring in 1984.
Ann was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33603.
Graveside services will follow at 1:00 PM at Centro Español Memorial Cemetery, 4601 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.
