Elizabeth Pena
To know my grandmother was to love her. Whether you knew her in her younger years or her older, she loved her family, was proud of each of us, and would brag about our talents and accomplishments. As I sorted through some of her most treasured items on Saturday I found many items that proved just how proud she was. I found poems, songs, and plays that her brother wrote....most of them in her handwriting with a note "Written by Ana Louise Alvarez" (a name she gave herself). I found report cards from each of her children, programs for plays her children were in with their names circled, graduation certificates, back stage passes for her very own Elvis impersonator, programs from Frank Rey Dance Studio from when I was a child, prayer cards from when her dearest family and friends had past. The point is, she was OUR biggest fan! No matter how big or small the accomhment in our lives...(all of us...), she was there and she was proud. And whether she knew it or not, she was part of the reason we were able to accomplish these things. She helped each of us get to where we were going. And I do believe with all of my heart that she is still cheering us on. I love you Grandma, with all of my heart. I am one of your biggest fans. I will NEVER forget you. Your memory will stay with me for the rest of my life. And I promise to teach my children how to love unconditionally just as you did for all of us. Until we see you again.......your loving grandchildren Elizabeth and Orlando and great-grandchildren Isabel Diane and Victor Manuel
