Angelina C Monte's Obituary
MONTE, Angelina C., 100 of Tampa, FL passed away on January 24, 2011 from natural causes. Angelina was born on May 27, 1910. Starting at the age of 16 years old, Angelina worked as a cigar roller in Ybor City where she continued to work her craft well into her 80's. Angelina was a devoted wife, mother and Nana. For Angelina, family and extended family were her primary concern. Nana was always ready to bring by a pot of her "magic" chicken soup with the little "pastina" when you weren't feeling quite well. She was an exceptional cook and baker who loved to share her cherished recipes with her children and grandchildren. The legacy of Angelina's delicious homemade Italian cookies and her famous flan will continue to live on through the family members she taught. Angelina was an energetic, lively and proud matriarch into her 90's and did not lose a bit of her wry wit until these last few months. At her 100th birthday party, although unable to get out of her bed, Angelina enjoyed birthday cake with ice cream while celebrating with family and friends. Angelina was a proud member of La Nuovo Sicilia Unita Lodge 1251 and L'Unione Italiana. Angelina was predeceased by her beloved husband Giuseppe (Joe) Monte in 1980, daughter-in-law Mary Monte, son-in-law Manuel Manna and grandson Joseph A. Manna.
