Angela C Gomez's Obituary
Angela C. Gomez (nee Fernandez) was born on October 2, 1937, in the small town of Chaparra, Oriente, Cuba. Her parents were Jesus Fernandez and Natalia Duran, both natives of Spain. Angela grew up in her native Cuba, and immigrated to the United States after the Cuban Revolution in August of 1960. She moved to Tampa to live with her sister, and eventually met and married Dr. Henry Gomez, who was originally from Cuba himself. She had three daughters, Betsy, Angie, and Cathie, was a stay-at-home mom, and lived in Tampa, Temple Terrace, and finally, Brandon, where she passed away on May 3, 2020.
For many years, throughout her life in the Tampa area, she was an active member of the Cuban Civic Club, and Club 15, and she was an avid animal lover. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, quilting, and cross-stitching. She was extremely talented at handiwork of all types, and she loved to dance more than anything.
Angela was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Natalia, her husband, Henry, her siblings Guillermo Rodriguez, Manolo Rodriguez, Alfredo (Fello) Rodriguez, Aurora (Cuca) Perez, Eduardo (Panchito) Fernandez, Luis Fernandez, and German (Papito) Fernandez. She was the last remaining child of her parent’s union.
Angela is survived by her daughters, Betsy Gomez-Diaz (Jorge Diaz), Angie Gomez DeShong, Cathie DeLuna (Larry DeLuna), her grandsons, Jorge Diaz, Mitchell DeShong, and Nicholas DeShong, as well as her step-grandchildren, Meylin Diaz, Tristan DeLuna, and Bella DeLuna, and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She came into this world during the Great Depression, and left it during the worldwide Pandemic. She lived on her terms, and We will be celebrating her life always.
