Amalia Morgado's Obituary
Amalia Morgado, beloved wife of Roland Morgado, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in Cuba in 1938, she was the daughter of Celia and Claudio Sanchez and the sister of Claudio, Angeles, and Celia.
She is survived by her children, Roland Morgado Jr. (Teresa), Sandra Morgado, and Roxanna Morgado (Douglas); her honorary son, Rocky Orihuela; her grandchildren, Adrian, Kristen, Brittany, and Melissa; and her great-grandson, Grayson.
Amalia came to the United States at an early age, where she met the love of her life, Roland. Their romance blossomed into a lifelong love story, and their devotion to one another remained unwavering until Roland's passing in 2019.
From a young age, Amalia was full of life, energy, and charm. Family members often recalled how she would break into song or dance on classroom desks to entertain her classmates whenever the nuns left the room. Her joyful spirit, charisma, and sense of fun remained with her throughout her life and touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Amalia and Roland made Tampa their permanent home, where they raised their three children. A talented entrepreneur with a creative spirit, Amalia owned and operated a successful flower shop and was also a gifted party planner. Her creativity and attention to detail transformed ordinary gatherings into memorable celebrations. Through her floral designs and event planning, she helped countless families mark life's most meaningful moments.
Amalia loved bringing people together and found great joy in hosting family gatherings and celebrations. Her generosity, warmth, and gift for entertaining created lasting memories for everyone fortunate enough to share them.
Community was at the heart of who Amalia was. She belonged to numerous social organizations throughout her life and was always among the first to volunteer her time and talents. One of her proudest accomplishments was her lifelong involvement in Tampa's Carnival celebrations, where her passion, dedication, and love of tradition left a lasting impact. She had a remarkable gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind—the laughter she shared, the beauty she created, the traditions she cherished, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in her family, her friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 10am-11am with her funeral service starting at 11am; both at Boza and Roel Funeral Home. Following service, she will be laid to rest with her husband, Roland, at Florida National Cemetery.
