Alfredo C. Maqueira Perez's Obituary
On April 9, 2024, Alfredo Maqueira passed away at the age of 87. Alfredo was born in Pinar del
Rio, Cuba, to Eusebio and Antonia Maqueira, and married Ana Perez in 1961 with whom he
moved to the United States in 1971. Together they had two sons, Alfredo Jr. (born 1964), and
Aristides (born 1966).
Throughout his life Alfredo was an excellent craftsman, a loving husband, and a committed
father. He was an inventive thinker, always tinkering around the house or building new solutions
for his wife’s garden. He always enjoyed being around a pool table and was an avid and expert
billiards player, capable of executing unbelievable shots. From his supporting fathering and
grandfathering, to his routine of parking cars in his yard on Sundays for Buccaneers games, to
his fostering of a wide network of friends, Alfredo was always a warm presence within his
community whose smile brought happiness to many.
Alfredo’s life was colored with hardship and sacrifice, from his complicated times in Cuba, to
immigrating to the United States with his wife and children, and overcoming many struggles to
build a life and career in this new country. But he never met these difficulties with strife. Instead,
Alfredo lived an extraordinary life guided by courage and filled with love.
Alfredo is survived by his two sons, Alfredo Jr. (wife Nancy) and Aristides (wife Denise), as well
as his two grandchildren, Shayla and Alex, and the many other lives he touched.
