Albert George Begin Jr.'s Obituary
Albert George Begin Jr., a dedicated family man and a cherished member of the Temple Terrace community, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born on May 23, 1945, in Augusta, Maine, the son of Albert and Cecile (Drouin) Begin. Albert grew up alongside his two older sisters, Yolande Lerette and Carmen Howard. He bravely served his country as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Al is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Gaudette; his two sons, Albert III (Buddy) and Michael; and five grandchildren, Hannah Fields, Hailey Pendergrass, Madeline Begin, Leia Begin, and Michael Begin Jr.; and one great grandson, Lincoln Albert Fields.
A resident in Temple Terrace for over 50 years, Al was known as the ever-present outdoor neighbor, meticulously caring for his yard and home every weekend, and always available to help a neighbor in need.
Al was a dedicated and hardworking father, whose primary goal was to provide a good education for his two sons. He saw them through Corpus Christi and Jesuit High School, and proudly watched them both earn engineering degrees from the University of South Florida.
Most of Al’s career was spent as a sales representative in the automotive parts business. He was a man who greeted everyone—family, friends, business associates, and strangers alike—with a firm handshake and a warm smile. Known for his personal charm and strong work ethic, Al insisted on doing things “the right way.”
He was also a good listener, always genuinely interested in hearing the thoughts and opinions of others, and preferred a good conversation over a few beers. He was also known for knowledge & interest in cars, making a “mean” Bloody Mary, and grilling some of the best pork ribs and steaks you’d ever had.
Though not an avid sports fan, Al was an excellent tennis and billiards player in his prime. He faithfully watched the Daytona 500 every year and the television show 60 Minutes every Sunday night.
In his retirement years, Al enjoyed playing golf, serving as a participating panel judge for the Florida Lemon Law, and most of all, spending time with his loving wife, Suzanne. They were happily together for more than 20 years.
Al will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his genuine kindness toward everyone he met. May God bless his soul.
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
