Aileen Joyce Alvarez's Obituary
Alvarez, Aileen J. (Cano), 62 a Tampa native, passed away December 29, 2013 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father Ruben Cano and is survived by her husband Luis J. Alvarez, children Melanie Ruiz and Randy Alvarez, grandchildren Ilianna Rodriguez, Oscar Rodriguez, Jr. and Gabrielle Ruiz, as well as her mother Violet R. McGimsey, sisters Vivian Cano Leto, Terri McGimsey Zapata and brother Brian McGimsey, uncle Henry Ruiz (aka "Tedd Webb"), sisters-in-law Rosita Alvarez and Nancy Lasa, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Aileen was a graduate of Hillsborough High (c/o '70) and a dedicated worker of 32 years with the Tampa-Hillsborough County library system and Mediation/Diversion Services. She enjoyed making her arts and crafts but enjoyed loving her children and grandchildren even more. Aileen, you can now rest, you can now sleep you are finally at peace. Catholic funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 4th, at Boza-Roel Funeral Home 4730 N. Armenia Ave, Tampa from 11am-1pm, Fr. Steve Ryan, SDB, officiating and interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family thanks the Melech Hospice House "Blue Team" and the St. Joseph Hospital nursing staff for the loving care given to Aileen. Special thanks also to Aileen's Mediation/Diversion family for all their love and kindness and also to her "pillow and massage angel" Samantha Diaz. Flowers accepted and donations in Aileen's memory can be made to LifePath Hospice.
