Aida R. Jurado's Obituary
Jurado, Aida Yglesias passed away April 30, 2026. Aida was a West Tampa native and daughter of Galician immigrants who worked in the Ybor City cigar industry. She was a longtime resident of Sand Key Beach, but passed away in her West Tampa childhood home, in the company of family members.
Aida graduated from Jefferson High School before attending secretarial school in Ybor City. Determined to continue her education, she went on to study at the University of Tampa (then Tampa U) and later earned her master's degree from the University of Florida. Her commitment to learning continued throughout her life, she completed coursework at St. Mary's University School of Law and later pursued MBA studies while balancing the demands of work and family.
She dedicated her life to caring for her family and inspired those she loved with her passion for learning and education. Aida worked as a teacher before becoming an office manager of her husband's medical practice. She and her husband, Rodrigo, cherished their retirement years together, splitting time between their home in North Georgia, visiting their beloved grandchildren, and traveling internationally to spend time with family, friends and explore new places.
Aida is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Rodrigo Jurado; and her son Rod Jurado Jr. She is survived by her children, Jaime Jose (catherine Mary), Miguel (Emily), Cristina, and Marisa Jurado; and by her grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Jurado-Patrick (Jon), Jose, Matthew, Adriana, Suzanne (Tyler), Michael (Emily), Elizabeth Ann (Andrew) and Kayla Milligan (Daniel).
She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother whose perseverance, love of learning, and unwavering dedication to her family will leave a lasting legacy.
Memorial Services will be May 9, 2026, from 4pm to 6pm at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave, 813-877-7676. Father Connor Penn will perform a Funeral Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Salesian Youth Center, where she was a board member, or Centro Asturiano.
