Robert Alexander Fenton Jr.
July 11, 1953 - February 19, 2022
Robert Alexander Fenton Jr., 68, of Tampa passed away on Saturday, February 19. Son to Celia and Robert A. Fenton Sr., “Robby”, as he was known, was a native of Tampa and attended St. Lawrence Catholic School and Tampa Catholic High School. A two-sport standout in baseball and football who won a baseball state championship with Tampa Catholic in 1971, he signed a baseball scholarship with Miami-Dade Community College upon graduation from TC. Well-known for his quick wit and (sometimes) irreverent sense of humor, as well as his natural musical ability, he would go on to spend part of his life as a professional musician, traveling around the state and country on tour as a lead singer and guitarist in a Southern rock band. He was never happier than when surrounded by friends and family playing guitar or piano while singing Beatles songs with his siblings Michael and Gigi and friends. He also touched the lives of many as a mental health counselor at several local hospitals during his second-career after music. Robby was predeceased by his brother Michael and is survived by son Bobby (Chelsea), grandchildren Wade and Jane, sister Gigi (Greg), nephews Markham (Frances) and Gregory, niece Alexandra, and sister-in-law Celeste Fenton. A service will be held in his honor at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave. in Tampa, at 4 pm. Visitation will begin at 3 pm. There will be a get together after the service at Rick’s on the River (2305 N. Willow Ave., Tampa), and all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay or another animal rescue organization is something he would’ve appreciated.
