Richard Alan Juarez “Dicky” 74, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Dicky was born in Tampa, FL, the son of Dr. Oscar A. Juarez and Helen D. Juarez. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 38 years, Susie. His siblings: Dr. Juanita L. Garcia (Jordan), Oscar F. Juarez (Nancy), Dr. Patricia J. Blanco (Dennis) and Robert L. Juarez. His nieces and nephews: Denise Sanchez (Maximo), Yvette Beatty (Wesley), Lena Juarez, Fernando Juarez (Johnna), Tanya Wilder (Brent), Joshua Blanco, Daniel Blanco (Brittany) and Kelley Hunter (Jeffrey), as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition, he had a large extended family in Guatemala. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Tampa, class of 1964, where he was an outstanding guard on the Dragon basketball team. He attended St. Petersburg Community College. He retired from GTE/Verizon, after 28 years of dedicated service. Dicky was an avid sports enthusiast, always rooting for the Bucs, Gators and Yankees. He loved to travel, especially family adventures and cruises. Most of all, he loved participating in his favorite hobbies, which included playing golf, attending Bucs games and sporting events, live theatre, and a good murder mystery. He was always up for a spirited political debate. Dicky was a loving husband, brother and uncle. He was best known for his kind heart and generous spirit. He had a strong sense of justice and fairness and often played the role of peacemaker. He was a loyal friend to many. He fought a valiant battle against esophageal cancer without complaint. We would like to thank the dedicated health care professionals at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and HPH Hospice. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 23rd from 10:30 – 12:30 at Boza and Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N Armenia Ave, Tampa, Fl. The memorial service will begin at 12:30. Committal to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa. Due to COVID-19, masks are required and temperatures will be checked. All are welcome to pay respects prior to the service. If you are unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed at (INSERT LINK). In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to your favorite cancer fighting charity.
