Dean Joseph Mangione, 58 years young, passed away peacefully June 11, 2021. He was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, neighbor, and colleague. He was born in Tampa to Antonio “Tony” and Thelma Mangione on May 20, 1963 and they preceded him in death, along with his stepmother, Aida Mangione. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Janice Vollaro Mangione; sons, Joshua “JD” Hiser (Kacy), Nicholas “Nick” Mangione (Chrissy), Erick Juarez (Carey), Dean Mangione, Jr.; daughter, Alysha Mangione; grandchildren, Lucas “Luke”, Camden, Levi, and Scarlett; half-sister, Maria Teresa Rosa (Franco); sister, Deanna Kimble (Ron); in-laws, Joseph “Joe” and Pat Vollaro; sister-in-law, Diane Miller; brother-in-law, Joseph Vollaro (Ann); Uncle, Joseph “Joe” Mangione; nieces, nephews, cousins, and ex-wife, Liz Haywald. Dean was passionate about giving and serving and enjoyed his lifelong career as a firefighter, first as a volunteer with the Seffner-Mango Fire Department. After completing training, he dedicated 31 years of service to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. His fellow firefighters were his second family. He retired in 2017 to enjoy life. Dean was a selfless, caring, big-hearted, and humble man with a great sense of humor. He was a friend to all and never met a stranger. He loved and was loved by his family and friends immensely. Together they enjoyed the beach, fishing, sporting events, and other activities as Dean loved having a good time. Dean had great faith and was a born again Christian. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered, but we take comfort knowing he is free from illness and is spending eternity with the Lord. Services will be held Saturday, June 19, at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Avenue. The family will receive visitors from 5 PM to 6 PM. The service, including Firefighter Honors, begins at 6 PM. The service will be livestreamed.
