A wonderful man and a wonderful friend. Charlie used to hang around with my father when we were kids. He was like a big brother to me. He and my husband Stan were friends for years and years. Now they are all together again in heaven. He will be missed. My daughter's Sher Johnson and Phyllisann Humphreys, her husband Stephen and I send our sincere sympathy to his family.
I am sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. Charlie was part of my life. He was a TRUE friend to my father! Charlie and Charlie remained buddies from childhood til my fathers passing in 2004. Charlie would stop by to say hello even after my Charlies passing. Charlie was a genuine companion to Louise and my Dad. Our family was blessed to have a wonderful man like your Charlie in our lives! Where do I start Dad... those weekends when I was a small child, you reading the funny papers to me in your lap with a bowl of Dutch chocolate ice cream and an 11 o'clock trip to Columbus Drive to pick up the early edition of the Sunday newspaper... Drives to Bayshore in your fancy convertible... I remember you buying me a rabbit muff for Christmas one year which I kept and cherished until I was an adult. As I grew older I remember pancakes on Sunday mornings, you teaching me to shoot a gun, numerous phone calls after I left Tampa, and Masonic breakfasts later after I returned. In between, far too many memories to relate, but each one as special to me now as they were then. Perhaps my fondest however are the days we sat on your porch staring up at the sky and talking about "your" Tampa... and latest of all those Wednesday morning visits where you shared your childhood with me and parts of mine I didn't remember. Each memory is carved in my heart, as are you. And until we meet again, always know I love you and will miss you.
Grandpa, I will always cherish the childhood memeories we made togeter. Most memorable are the times spent in the garage where you kept me busy learning skills that I would put to great use throughout my life. We had a shared love of cars, tractors, dogs and long arms with many lengthy conversations about all of the above. Although we did not always see eye to eye, I love you and wish you peace and love wherever you find yourself from here. It does not seem possible that you are gone. You will always be in my heart. S

I remember a time we were at the lake land in Brookesville and I wanted to dig up a Florida plant to take back to Wisconsin. Pop told me he had to show me a butterfly bush. At the time I didn't know what a butterfly bush was, so I said "ok". We started walking through the woods, and I was starting to get scared we might come across a big snake slithering through the high grass, but we didn't (thank god), and then there it was...this big beautiful butterfly bush. I fell in love with it, and have loved butterfly bushes ever since. The butterfly bush was too big for us to bring back home, but what a beautiful memory that was. :)Miss you Pop :( , Love Jenny
